St. Teresa, Costa Rica - January 5-12, 2014
Come explore your inner terrain, expand your boundaries
and deepen your connection with nature and yourself.
Join Caroline and Valerie of Neighborhood Yoga in St. Teresa, Costa Rica this winter, with special musical guests Kistin “Luna” Ray and Joshua Canter.
Immerse yourself in the beauty and ease into nature’s rhythm. In this 7-day retreat we will explore our inner terrain with the breathtaking Costa Rican landscape as inspiration and yoga as our guide. Through a myriad of experiential offerings, each day will be crafted with attunement to the elements as we weave together inspired yogic teachings, asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, writing, nutritional wellness, bhakti, and embodied ritual.
Our days will begin with sunrise meditations overlooking the Pacific, an invigorating morning practice, and gourmet meals prepared from local organic produce and served at the open-aired Buddha Eyes Restaurant. Afternoons are free for swimming, walking along the beach, exploring the sanctuary of costa Rica’s most pristine nature, reading, writing, surfing, snorkeling, zip line excursions over the jungle canopy, or relaxing with a massage, or spa treatment. Evening offers an opportunity for more reflective work, from lunar asana practices, restorative and yin yoga, Thai Yoga massage, Sangha, and Kirtan.

Valerie Midgett's Bio
Valerie Midgett has been teaching yoga for 15 years. With 30 years experience in the moving arts, yoga was a natural transition following years of teaching and performing contemporary dance. Her classes weave together the foundations of anatomy and physiology with the mind/body practices of yoga; fusing dynamic flow sequences, deep stretches, physical and mental balance, mindful awareness, yoga philosophy and embodied ritual. Valerie views yoga as a form of self-transformation, and a process that involves confronting your limits and transcending them. She likes to share her passion for yoga as a way to inspire others, both on and off the mat.
Her formal education includes an MS in Exercise Physiology, an MFA in Dance, Yoga Certification from Integral Yoga in NYC, Pre/Postnatal Yoga and Thai Yoga Body Therapy. She is also the owner of Neighborhood Yoga in Boone, NC, where she has lived with her family for the past 25 years. She regularly takes groups on retreat to Costa Rica and Mexico, and pilgrimages to Northern India.
It is with immense gratitude to all her students, teachers, and teacher’s teachers that she share what was offered to her, with respect to all traditions on this path of awakening the heart.

Caroline Stahlschmidt's Bio
Caroline Stahlschmidt has been an athlete her whole life and in her early 20’s she started to explore yoga as part of her training plan. Slowly, her practice began to deepen as she experienced the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of yoga.
In 2008, Caroline completed her 200-hour Teacher Training through Neighborhood Yoga with Valerie Midgett and Kelly Golden. Since that training, she has also studied with Sarah Faircloth, Rod Stryker and Sage Rountree.
Caroline teaches a slow vinyasa class, inviting in the mental and physical release that comes when you flow with your breath but moving slow enough that you have time to move in and out of the postures with proper alignment. As an athlete, Caroline knows what it feels like to have a tighter body or sore muscles and she is always mindful of this in her teaching.
Caroline is also a health coach and she infuses all of her classes with a healthy dose of inspiration and motivation. Her goal is to help students tune in to their own inner wisdom and realize their full potential on and off the mat.
